2001 Sir Donald Bradman 3-coin set. Commemorative Coin Program
Contains Gold/silver $20, silver $5, aluminium-bronze $5 in a green leatherette case with the Australian Arms and the words ROYAL AUSTRALIAN MINT and the Perth Mint Logo with the words THE PERTH MINT printed in gold on the inside cover. The set is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity
It was February 25th 2001 when Sir Don passed away and by late March the Prime Minister had announced an official coin programm honouring the late cricket legend. A celebration of his life and achivements in conjunction with the Bradman Foundation, 3 coins were produced from each of Australia's mints' the RAM and the Perth Mint.
The reverses all feature Sir Donald Bradman and all have the legend SIR DONALD BRADMAN 1908 2001: The central coin is a Twenty Dollar bi-metal gold and silver piece depicting a bust of Sir Donald wearing the baggy green cap of the Australian Cricket Team in 1931 - 1932 (struck at the Perth Mint). The coin on the left is a silver proof Five Dollar depicting Sir Donald playing a cover drive (struck at the Perth Mint).
